I went to a talk by David Williams the Canadian astronaut this morning at 9am. It was pretty cool, but you could tell he’d given the talk so many times it had become routine. Never the less it’s always nice to see icons like him say a few inspirational words. The girl that does the space news was there as well. That’s what I like about southern Ontario.
I’m working on my next databases assignment. I have to do a bunch of SQL statements. Not very exciting. Databases are not my thing.
I took a couple of minutes yesterday to look up Julian Squires. One thing I regret was never getting to know the guy. He’s probably the smartest computer hacker I’ve ever met. He’s my age, but 4 years ago he was already posting to the Linux-kernel discussions, and of all things, regarding kernel level cryptography. The threads were discussions with Andrew Morton who is now Linus’ right hand man. 4 years ago! Crazy. I got this quote from his website.

Some of you like pep rallies and plastic robots who tell you what to read. Forget I mentioned it… Rise for the flag salute. — Frank Zappa
