Sleep

On Friday I went out for lunch with the guys from work. I had an interesting conversation with one of my co-workers about becoming vegetarian. Apparently vegetarians naturally need less sleep, and some of the strictest monks actually only need 3 hours of sleep per night. R was telling me about the the Chinese equivalent of the Canadian Food Guide. Basically there’s 3 different meal plans depending on if you’re a laborer, sedentary, or a monk. Laborers eat 3 meals a day, much like here. Sedentary people have 2 vegetarian meals per day, and monks should eat one per day.

These days I feel like I want more time in the day. I get up in the morning at 6:30 and get home from work at 5:30, by 6:30 I’ve had supper, and then it’s usually time to run some errand, like groceries, or clean the apartment. If I watch some TV it’s not long until 10:00 comes around and I have to be getting to bed in order to wake up at 6:30. That’s only 3.5 hours on a workday that I get to spend on myself.

The website that I’m working on is slowly coming along, but it’s hard to dedicate an hour/day to it.

If there’s a way to convince my body that it only needs 5 hours of sleep it would probably help me with my future success, and getting rich. I could get a lot done with 3 more hours every day. To that end I’m considering becoming vegetarian at least to test out the effect it has on my sleep pattern.
