I was never much of a reader growing up. Mostly because of the time comitment that it takes to finish a book. I can’t tell you how many times I started to read Lord of the Rings and never made it past Bilbo’s birthday party. Ocassionally I would get excited about a new book and then quickly lose interest by the first chapter. For a while I thought it might be a result of my slow reading speed so I started to learn how to speed read. I learned a lot about speed reading techniques, but never trained long or hard enough to improve my reading speed and comprehension.
These days I’m reading lots of things. There’s a stack of books next to my bed, and a growing library on the bookself. The amount of things on my list to read has been steadily increasing faster than I can read them. So I’m thinking of working on my reading speed again. The best thing I found back in the 90’s to learn speed reading was called rocket reader. They’re still around. I’m going to try it out again.
