Canada Day Weekend

On Saturday we went to the Queen Elizabeth Park and the Bloedal Observatory. The observatory is a big geodesic greenhouse filled with exotic plants and birds. I was in a bit of a flower photographing zone and snapped a bunch of pictures of the plants.  I’ll post the photos online soon.

For Canada Day celebrations we went over to Granville Island.  They had tons of events happening all day, numerous bands were set up as part of the Vancouver Jazz Festival, and there were the typical things that the island always has.  Many of the artists on the island had an open house or were doing something special.

The forecast was not looking that great, but it turned out to be an awesome day.  Even managed to get a bit of a sun burn.

Later on Sunday we went down to Heather’s office to watch the fireworks.

On the Monday holiday I did a lot of reading.  I devoured “Ender’s Game,”  the first novel I’ve read in a long time.  Have to say it was a good as everyone said it was.

You know, there’s a couple of sequels to Ender’s Game 🙂 all equally as fascinating… not to mention, the parallel storyline of Bean in “Ender’s Shadow” and it’s sequels, also fantastic
