I have been on a bit of a science and sci-fi kick lately. And it has my brain working over time.
For the last few days I’ve been thinking about how to design and what the performance characteristics would be of a robot that balanced on a ball. In particular I’m wondering if it would be able to climb stairs or handle rough terrain.
I think it might make for an interesting chair/stool design. Something that would roll into your leans so as to stay upright but move around effortlessly. With enough power it would be a crazy commuting vehicle.
All you would need to make it work is a micro-controller, 3 motors, and a gyroscope chip + the mechanical and structural parts. The programming would be relatively easy. The mechanical and electrical systems are beyond my skill.
I wish I had the cash resources to hire a few engineers to design and build things like this.
