Results from 2 weeks of Eye Exercises

Two weeks ago I wrote about working on my eyesight with some exercises.

Honestly I’ve been gobsmacked at how effective it has been.

Based on my measurements I’ve gone from about -5.25 to -4.25 in 2 weeks.  I’ve been focusing on just my right eye for the time being which has actually started to become weird because now my prescription is unbalanced and I can see noticeably sharper in one eye than the other.

My most effective exercise has been to draw a thin line on a piece of paper, position the paper close to my face at about a 30 degree incline from horizontal, then look up and down the line.  By doing this quickly – just enough time at each position for the line to come into focus, I’m trying to exercise the full range of motion for the muscles that push on the lens in my eye.

I’ve been able to notice that not only has my eyesight improved but the speed that my focus has been able to switch from near to far as also gotten better.

One night I sat down for an hour to do this exercise and was excited to see my far point move about 2cm during the session.

Now that I’ve proven to myself that it’s possible, my next goal is to get to -3.00 which would be the equivalent of being able to focus corner to corner on a piece of 8.5×11 paper.  After that I’ll need some different exercise techniques.
