We had a great bit of weather today so I took the opportunity to get my winter bike ready to ride. It’s amazing how much things can seize up… it had basically rusted solid over the summer. Thankfully I was able to get everything back in working order.
What is perhaps more amazing is that even in the -30 degree Calgary winter it’s less stressful to bike to work than to drive.
A recent article in the New York Times about the link between strength and brain health provides even more incentive to continue to exercise through the cold months of winter. Biking over slippery pathways can be a great workout combining not spending money on gas, avoiding the stress of being stuck in traffic, gaining exercise and thus supporting overall health.
Looking forward to a couple of months of winter biking.
